Sarah and Lachlan | Customs House Wedding
Sarah and Lachlan’s Customs House Wedding - Newcastle
Sarah & Lachlan held their Newcastle wedding at Customs House Hotel on Bond St in the city.
These two madly-in-love legends were hitched with the help of the one and only Celebrant Monty King and his glorious beard. Their ceremony occurred in the upstairs function room overlooking the Newcastle foreshore—epic views in all directions, a beautiful setting for an inner-city Newcastle wedding.
The gorgeous styling of plinths dressed with florals, wooden chairs and many other fine details, ensured their memorable indoor ceremony at Customs House Hotel. The bride, Sarah, arrived by vintage limousine, walking up the spiral staircase with her parents and bridesmaids. The ceremony took place, with the couple exchanging vows, and Monty keeping everyone engaged with some witty oneliners and insight into how these two soon-to-be hitched lovers tick.
Sarah & Lachlan, following their first kiss, signed the marriage register and walked down the aisle, showered in love from their guests.
All made their way outside and into the common area with the Custom House building and its water fountains as a backdrop. A few minutes of mingling saw us wrangling up all the guests to get stuck into a large group photo with everyone and friends and family photos listed by the couple.
The guests then had transport from Customs House Hotel to Merewether Surfhouse, where the reception would later occur in Newcastle's iconic vintage Tram bus. It is an absolute conversation starter and experience in itself.
As the guests departed, the bridal party had a few quick drinks before cruising around the city on foot for bridal portraits. Nothing beats the ease of an inner-city wedding; there is no need to hop in and out of cars with all the best photo locations only meters apart, within walking distance from the ceremony location.
We made our way around Newcastle, utilising the back streets, the fantastic architecture of many Bolton, Wolfe & Hunter Streets buildings, the Old Newcastle Train Station, and a few hidden gems, such as the small garden sections between some foreshore properties.
We didn't get much of a sunset due to rain moving in as the afternoon went on. However, we opted to get a few night photos just outside the reception room at Merriwether Surfhouse House in the rain with just the bride and groom. If you're looking for a more intimate, romantic vibe, night photos are the way to go. A quiet moment, holding each other as the rain fell around them, was the perfect way to end the evening.
